Transform classic texts into modern masterpieces in our online AddRAPTation Workshop. Through a step-by-step lesson plan, teachers and students alike learn to decode and adapt complex texts, fostering a deeper understanding and connection to the material. This course is great for advanced middle school, high school, and some college-aged students, and can be incorporated into English, Writing, Shakespeare, Music and Theatre Performance curricula.

- What Grade Levels Can Take This Course?
This course is designed for high school students, but may be appropriate for certain middle schoolers or college aged students.
- What Academic Focus Is This Course Tailored To?
This course is designed to fit into a High School English curriculum, but would also work in Drama, Shakespeare, Music, Interdisciplinary Performing Arts or Creative Writing classes.
- How Long Will This Course Take To Complete?
It’s up to you! We have designed the course to be taken either in its entirety, module by module, or you can pick and choose from the lessons to work into your own curricula – either in your own unit or to utilize as one-off lessons and activities. We even have suggestions on pacing and supplementary sources. Make sure to consult the Usage Guide once you gain access to the course.
- Does This Course Align With Common Core Standards?
Yes! To aid with curriculum design and skill goal alignment, each lesson has been tagged with the Common Core Standards that it addresses. While we understand that standards can vary by state, we utilize the national framework as an access point for educators. Standard content areas are color coded by College and Career Readiness (CCR) Anchor Standard categories: Reading Standards for Literature (RL); Writing Standards (WS); Speaking and Listening Standards (SL); Language Standards (L).

GQ
GQ is Founder and Creative Director of Q Brothers Collective. He co-created, co-directed, and starred in the original productions of Othello: The Remix (Westside Theater off-Broadway NY Times Critic’s Pick / The Globe Theatre, London / Chicago Shakespeare Theater), Dress The Part (SFSTL), Q Gents (OSF/ISF), Q Brothers Christmas Carol (CST), and Funk It Up About Nothin’ (CST). Originally from Chicago, he received his BFA from the Experimental Theater Wing of Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

JQ
JQ is Creative Director and Musical Director of Q Brothers Collective. He co-created, co-directed, and starred in the original productions of Othello: The Remix (Westside Theater off-Broadway NY Times Critic’s Pick / The Globe Theatre, London / Chicago Shakespeare Theater), Dress The Part (SFSTL), Q Gents (OSF/ISF), Q Brothers Christmas Carol (CST), and Funk It Up About Nothin’ (CST). He is the Composer of HULU’s The Bear, and studied Audio Engineering at NYU. He is also a lifelong student, and is currently studying American Sign Language at Gallaudet University.

Jackson Doran
Jackson (Jax) has spent the last 10+ years as an Education Director and Artistic Associate of Q Brothers Collective, making and starring in ad-rap-tations of classic plays and pieces of literature. Highlights include “ms. estrada” with The Flea in New York, “Long Way Home” with the Chicago Children’s Choir, a seven year sit down run at the Tony Award winning Chicago Shakespeare Theater with “Q Brothers Christmas Carol.” He has also toured the world for the past performing in The Q Brothers’ “Othello: The Remix.” Jackson has held adjunct professorships at Northwestern University, The University of Iowa, UIC, and Connecticut College.

Postell Pringle
Postell (Pos) is a writer, co-creatorand Artistic Associate of Q Brothers Collective. He starred in the original productions of Othello: The Remix (Westside Theater off-Broadway NY Times Critic’s Pick / The Globe Theatre, London / Chicago Shakespeare Theater), Q Brothers Christmas Carol (CST), and Funk It Up About Nothin’ (CST / Edinburgh Fringe). He appeared on Broadway in Goodnight, Oscar (Belasco Theater, *TONY Winner) and A Free Man of Color (Lincoln Center). For QBC, he co-created ms. estrada (The Flea, NYC), Q Brothers Christmas Carol and Long Way Home (with United Voices Chicago), amongst many other projects. Pos is a podcast creator, producer and music composer/superviser. He co-created kids podcast Roasting Vegetables (PINNA) and LOC Mixtape (Library of Congress, Fablevision) He is a playwright, music composer/producer and stage developer/director. He is a 2023 Artist In Residence of Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). He earned a BA in Theater from Bates College and studied acting in London (RADA). Pos is a native of Decatur, Georgia and resides in ‘do or die’ Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
